Learn and Master Piano Review:

Extremely High Quality Video
Most In-Depth Course: 20 DVDs,
4 Play Along CDs
104 Page Lesson Book
Expensive, But Worth The Extra Money

Learn & Master Piano with Will Barrow was recently released late in November of 20 2019. This is another outstanding course from Legacy Learning Systems. This is the same company that created and developed the highly successful course Learn & Master Guitar.

Learn & Master Piano is unmatched by any other piano lesson course we have seen to date. The course is very extensive and very easy to follow. The course contains fourteen DVDs, five play-along CDs and a 104 page book.

The instructor Legacy Learning System has hired for the course is grammy award winning piano player Will Barrow. Will Barrow is a highly skilled pianist who's resume includes singing, composing and piano instruction.

What's on the DVD's

The 20 DVD'S are broken down into 28 sessions:

1. First Things First
2. Major Progress
3. Scaling The Ivories
4. Left Hand and Right Foot
5. Minor Adjustments
6. Upside Down Chords
7. The Piano as Singer
8. Black is Beautiful
9. Black Magic
10. Making The Connection

11. Let it Be
12. Breaking Up's Not Hard to Do
13. Rockin' the Piano
14. A Bit of Beethoven

15. Pretty Chords
16. The Dominant Sound
17. Getting The Blues
18. Boogie-Woogie and Bending
19. Minor Details
20. The Left Hand as Bass
21. The Art of Ostinato
22. Harmonizing
23. Modern Pop Piano
24. Walkin' the Blues & Key Shakin'
25. Ragtime, Stride and Diminished
26. Jazz Piano
27. Hot and Cool Piano
28. Building Bridges

There are also workshop portions of each session that are meant to be used during the students daily practice time. Generally, the workshop times are around 20 minutes in length and help the student to practice the main points of the session.

We also really like the addition of "Nuggets". These are small bits of important information that from time to time will appear on the screen as you are going through the lessons. As you go through the course Mr. Barrow will often refer back to these "Nuggets". It really helps to have these in the course as they make important points "stick" in your head.

Play Along Cd's

This is a really fun part of the Learn & Master Piano course. The play along cd's contain recordings of all the songs students learn while going through the course. Each song on the play along cd's contains one version with the reference piano part and vocal cues and another version without the piano and vocal cues. We would like to mention that the musicians used for the play along cd's are all top notch players.

Summary

The entire course was obviously very well thought out and must have taken quite a long time to develop. The filming quality and camera angles are excellent and it's always very easy to see what Mr. Barrow is playing. Our favorite feature of the course is the virtual keyboard that also appears at the top of the screen. This makes it really easy to see exactly what notes and keys Mr. Barrow is playing.

The course is suitable for beginners, intermediate players and even advanced players. It's recommended that you go through the course from the beginning to end but if a student is already familiar with the basics, the first few sessions could probably be skipped.

Learn & Master Piano is by far the most thorough course we have seen for learning to play the piano. There is also a members forum where students can discuss the course and the instructor Will Barrow is often posting his thoughts or answering questions from students. This is a great addition to the course. You can't ask a DVD a question if you have one but you can post your questions to the Learn & Master Piano forum and have it answered.

The only downside to the Learn & Master Piano Course is that it's expensive. The course usually sells for $249 but you can sometimes find it on sale for $199. If you buy the course please come back to motifloyalty.com and let us know your thoughts!

Learn & Master Piano Review:

I started learning to play the piano in my mid-30's but had to give it up when, due to work and home responsibilities, I couldn't find enough time to practice. Thirty years later I decided to return to the piano with the Learn and Master Piano course and am absolutely delighted that I did! The course is very well organized and so easy to use. Will Barrow is an excellent teacher; and when I need to hear what he has said again so that the information can sink in, I just slide the cursor over and listen/watch as many times as necessary. The play-along CD is so much fun to use. You feel as if you are playing with a band. My only complaint is that I wish the lesson book were available in a larger print size. The resource section of the website, though, does make it possible to enlarge the pages to print out on a computer. I'm on lesson 18 and still feel this course is one of the best investments I've made in a long time!

If your just looking for a new hobbie and want to learn some basic songs and chords this course is great for doing just that. It's a really good introduction to playing piano and you can't beat the price.

I bought this course and I'm plenty happy with it. It's a bargain compared to private training or music school. I do wish more jazz lessons were included but other then that I love it.

Learn & Master Piano Review:

A pretty thourough course for beginner piano players. My newphew has it and it's not bad for the money. I play piano and would always recommend private lessons but if your going to go with a learn on your own type of course you could do a lot worse. If your the type of person that will stick to the lessons and practice you will be off to a good start with L&M Piano.

Learn & Master Piano Review:

I played piano when I was younger and had not played in years. This course was given to me as a gift by my boyfriend. He has a piano at his home and I expressed interest in learning to play again since I was very young the last time I played. Great gift. I love the course and I've been picking up things pretty quickly. It's very easy to follow and goes into detail about everything from playing chords and melody to proper hand positions. You will also learn to play some pretty cool songs. Feel free to post this.

Learn & Master Piano Review:

I'm an adult beginner, although I took a few lessons to familiarize myself with the language of music. I find this course very interesting and enjoyable but I'm disappointed because there's a website given in the material I received where I'm supposed to be able to find bonus exercises and ask questions but I haven't been able to find the website.

Learn & Master Piano Review:

Admittedly, as a person trying to learn a new instrument I am what one may call an old dog. New tricks are in my vocabulary but usually not in my repertoire. When I decided it was time to take a stab at the piano I was understandably intimidated by the mother of all instruments. The Petronius Building of the musical world! I stood and stared at my piano for some time wondering who or what was going to free me from this Sysiphean task?  Or at least guide me to the top of the hill. It was in this search that I discovered “” by Legacy Learning. They also developed the “Learn and Master Guitar” course, on which I’ve read good reports. So I figured if I was going to learn to sit, rollover and beg, I might as well be taught by the dog whisperer.

Legacy is known for its success in the instructional DVD arena and “Learn and Master Piano” is just another notch on their belt. Of course, like their other courses, the price seems a bit steep until you see what’s inside and actually try the course out. Then it seems to be worth twice what you paid. This course comes with fourteen DVD’s, five play along CD’s a one hundred and four page workbook and a treat bag full of extras!

The Session DVD’s are produced very well. The instructor, Will Barrow is clear and concise and the learning is set a pace even this old dog could keep up. They start with the basics, hand position, hand and foot correspondence, the notes, and the parts of the piano. Then very simply, like ringing a bell when it’s time to play an “A” chord, they move you into more complex and rewarding lessons without the student even knowing it. The process is so well done learning becomes second nature.

With each session there is a workshop section. These are about twenty minutes in length and really help to keep the key points of each session sharp in your head. It is also really nice to use these during individual practice time. Through out the course there are little “nuggets” of information that will pop up on the screen like little treats for a job well done. They are interesting little facts that help to keep it fun and relaxed by switching up the constant flow of musical knowledge pouring from the instructor. I have to admit after my first couple of sessions I was dog tired!

All in all I would say that was the best course I could’ve taken. I’m still chewing up my slippers and chasing the cat but man, can I play a mean rag time!

This is the best curriculum I have seen. Anyone can follow this and become a great piano player. Our entire family is learning to play; not just the kids. Thank you so much for creating this product.

Learn & Master Piano Review:

I really have enjoyed this course so far. Like other reviewers have mentioned it is very well produced. I would recommend it. The only thing I don't like is having to rewind the dvd a lot to fully grasp the lesson being given. That's more a matter of my short term memory getting bad though then a fault with the course. I'm 63 and things don't sink in like they used to!

Learn & Master Piano Review:

I wanted to let you know that I bought the learn and master piano course and I absolutely love it. I am retired and have always wanted to learn to play the piano. My daughter gave me her piano after she moved out of town and it's been sitting in my living room collecting dust for two years. I used to fool around with it occasionally but never could play it. I still can't play much but since I purchased this course I have been really enjoying taking the lessons. They are very easy to follow along with and the pace is just right for me. This is one of the best investments I have made in a while. I am really enjoying my new hobby. I found out about the course on your website and wanted to let you know how much I like it. Thanks, Helena C.

Learn & Master Piano Review:

I highly doubt their is a course available that compares to this course. There are 14 DVD's full of lessons and the instuction is top notch. Everything is explained in an easy to understand way and the course assumes you know nothing about playing the piano.(which I didn't) The instuctor teaches you in a way that really makes you feel like you are taking private lessons. I am only up to the thrird dvd right now so I can't say much about the entire course but so far I am very impressed and satisfied with my purchase.
